It’s no secret that the weather can have a significant impact on your skin and the summer season and everything that comes with it is no exception. Here are our pro tips to look after your skin this Summer:
Should you change your skincare routine during summer?
The summer elements such as heat, sweat and humidity can all wreak havoc on your skin. So, changing your routine isn’t always recommended, as you are already trying to combat so many other varying external elements.
The foundations of your skincare routine include a cleanser, moisturiser and SPF. These are considered year-round essentials and should always be included in your routine. Simplifying your routine to just these products and limiting your use of actives may be a good idea for you to assist your skin in getting those through harsher days.
Additionally, trying new products on days that your skin will exposed to the new elements is not recommended; save this for a night-in, or a day at home.
What about SPF?
In Australia, your skincare routine should be highly protective from the sun, year-round, so this aspect shouldn’t change. What you could opt for is an SPF product with a higher SPF component than what you would normally wear, to ensure adequate protection.
Can I look after my skin in other ways?
What you put on your skin is just one way to produce clear, healthy and protected skin. There are a variety of other ‘To-Do’s’ to look after your skin, beyond skin care:
- Keep hydrated
- Eat well
- Wear sun protective clothing, including a hat and sunglasses
